Large-scale storage for a secure energy future
Delivery of the first large-scale energy storage facility in Burgenland
The delivery of the battery storage system to the Siegendorf site marks the completion of another key infrastructure component in Burgenland’s energy system. The project forms part of BE Energy GmbH’s storage initiative and is part of the ongoing structural development of the regional energy infrastructure.
The facility has an installed capacity of 2 megawatts and a storage capacity of 5 megawatt-hours. The system is based on modular lithium-ion technology and integrates battery units, power electronics, as well as protection and control systems within an industrially designed overall architecture. Commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

A comprehensive storage initiative
As the share of renewable generation increases, the demands placed on grid infrastructure and system management are changing. In this context, storage solutions expand the scope for technical and commercial action and are becoming an integral part of modern energy infrastructure.
Prime Energy Holding is responsible for the technical structuring and integration of the system within the defined project architecture. Implementation takes place in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework and grid-side requirements.
The Siegendorf site represents the practical realisation of industrial storage infrastructure within a European context.
